Educators Of The Month!
Congratulations to Mr. Gene Boyles and Ms. Whitney Otto!
Gene was nominated by other school districts by another school district's FFA Advisor, "Gene represented the North Shelby School district in exemplary form at District Contests in Columbia. He was calm and cool under pressure exactly when we needed him. Gene volunteered to transport a group of students to the Dairy Cattle contest which was being held at the MU Dairy Farm. Our travels happened to be at the exact same time the storm alerting tornado sirens happened, and visibility was minimal with gusts of high winds. Gene remained calm and transported 24 students and 2 teachers like a boss and quickly pulled into safety when we had the opportunity.
I would ride with Gene anywhere after our experience. As a school district you should be very proud of Gene's commitment to student transportation while maintaining professionalism under pressure."
Whitney was nominated by Mrs. Hardy and Mrs. Greenwell for outstanding dedication, passion, and impact on the students at North Shelby. Ms. Otto has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment. When a student needs a little more time or help with a task or with their work, she is always willing to stay and help that one child. One example that stands out is when a student needed help writing their name, she found a way to help him remember how to write his name. She also loves doing crafts with the Preschoolers. These experiences are just one of many that highlights Ms. Otto's extraordinary ability to create a positive and lasting impact on the lives of her students.
