North Shelby staff are back at school today for professional development!

8th Grade and 12th Grade students must have updated booster and immunization records turned into the nurse on the first day of school. Robot Club forms will be sent home the first day of school with grades 4-8. Students interested MUST return forms to Mrs. Cook or Mrs. Wiley by Friday, August 28th.

Reminders: Students must have a MSHSAA physical form on file or with them the first day. 6th grade students are allowed to participate in Cross Country and Softball, but will not be allowed to be Dual Sport athletes.

2026 Football Jamboree Information

The Jamboree will be held at North Shelby with a 6pm start time. Each team gets 12 offensive and 12 defensive plays per quarter.

What a way to wrap up our summer! 🎉

Our Summer Reading Finale Bash was a huge success with 65 kids joining us for our final book checkout and foam party! The foam, giant bubbles, and snow cones were all a huge hit, and it was wonderful to see so many parents come out to watch, visit, and celebrate with us.

That's a wrap on our 10-week summer reading program! 📚 This summer, 92 students attended at least one event to check out books, and together they passed 36 Accelerated Reader quizzes while school was out.

Thank you to all of the families who made our summer program such a success. Your support means so much! And a special thank you to the @DollarGeneralLiteracyFoundation for making this program possible through our summer reading grant.

Senior students who would like to complete the Work Release Program need to have forms in the office by August 12th. If you need a form, you may email Mr. Daniel or Mrs. Cook.

Juniors and seniors were sent an email about MACC dual credit courses this coming school year. Mrs. Cook needs to hear from you if you plan to take any of the courses offered. Some courses fill up quicker than others.

Announcements:

7th Grade Orientation will be held next week on July 30th at 6pm in the High School Library.

We will not be holding an Open House this year. MAP/EOC results will be handed to students on the first day of school.

6th Grade students will be playing JH Softball and Cross Country this fall. Practices start on August 17th for JH. Students must have a MSHSAA Physical Form on file at the school.

📚🎉 Mark your calendars! Join us Wednesday, July 29, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. on the North Shelby Elementary Playground for our Summer Reading Finale Bash! Help us celebrate an amazing summer of reading with a giant bubble zone, foam party, snow cones, and our final summer book checkout and check-in. Kids are welcome to wear swimsuits and bring a towel, and parents are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. We hope to see you there!

Join us Wednesday, July 22, from 4:00–7:00 PM in the elementary library for glow-in-the-dark fun, great books, and summer reading adventures. We hope to see you there!

JH football camp will start at 7:45 am tomorrow to beat the rising temperatures. Camp should end around 9:30am.

Student MAP score reports have been received by the school. Notification to patrons within 15 days of receipt is required. Score reports will be available for pickup at the open house before school starts in August. If reports are not picked up at open house, they will be sent home on the first day of school.
